Pastors

Dan Price
What do you do here at Riv?
I lead the music ministry here. I oversee the “Go.” ministries (RivMexico and the Compassion Team). I work on creative stuff with a team of people. And I also evaluate all our major ministries throughout the year.
Family info?
Suzanne is my wife and best friend. Jaden is my son who's five. Parker is my one-year-old daughter.
Where did you grow up?
Akron, Ohio
What’s your Riv story?
I was working part-time as a high school ministry director at a sister church of Riv’s and started doing music with Noel at some national conferences. When Riv needed someone to lead music stuff, it was a natural fit for us. We’ve been here for five and a half years now.
How did you learn about Jesus?
My mom talked with me tons about Jesus and I put my trust in him when I was a kid.
What is something we don't know about you?
I don’t like cheese.
Favorite book?
Fiction: Catcher In The Rye; Theological: Decision Making and The Will Of God
What music is in your player right now?
Other Lives, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Vampire Weekend
Aside from pastor, what are some other jobs you’ve had in the past?
Worked at Chick-Fil-A, exterior painter, puppeteer (don’t ask), kitchen demo guy, car detailer, barista, and youth minister.
Who are some people that have inspired you?
My parents. My step-dad lived his life without much regard for himself, and instead cared for the lowly and brought them the Gospel. My mom for her continued trust in God through multiple life-tragedies. Also the other pastors at Riv for continually showing mutual submission as they lead.
Hobbies?
I have a lot of little interests in things; I’m not sure any are significant enough to call a hobby. I did just make a pedal board for my guitar pedals, which was a fun process.
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
Mind-bending like Matt Parkman from Heroes.
What makes you smile?
When I come home to kids and a wife that are excited to see me.
What are some things that you hope to happen in or through Riv?
I’m hoping that we’ll be able to send full-time missionaries to Mexico to work with Back2Back Ministries. I’m hoping we can get all of our Life Groups involved with a Compassion project at Riv. And I hope that our bands multiply in numbers and excellence as we think about church planting.
How do you take your coffee?
I prefer two-shot americanos, black.
