Church Planting

Riverview has a rich history of planting churches. It is our desire to recapture that spirit in a way that reflects both what God has done through Riv historically and what we believe God is doing through us now. Because of our strategic location near Michigan’s capitol city of Lansing, we focus the majority of our efforts within our state.

Riverview’s church planting strategy has three major elements:

Church Plants

Obviously, we can’t say that we are excited about church planting without planting churches! Utilizing our close relationship with Acts 29, we locate church planters both within and outside of Riverview and assist them in starting new congregations across the state. Church planters are assessed, trained, and coached by experienced church planters and leaders.

Church Planting Residency

CPR is a one to two year long intensive program designed to equip church planters so they can hit the ground running when they start planting their churches. Residents are provided with a modest salary, benefits, and reimbursement of expenses for the duration of their residency. They are trained by church and business leaders in character, ministry skills, and doctrine.

Michigan Church Planting Network

Many church planters find themselves alone after moving to a new city or state. The Michigan Church Planting Network seeks to help provide a sense of community for church planters in the crucial first years. Our dream is that every church plant in our state would be healthy enough to eventually plant more churches. To this end, we provide monthly gatherings (with free lunch) for the purpose of equipping and coaching church planters. Additionally, as we are able, we facilitate coaching and mentoring relationships between peers and experienced church planters.??
