Indie Ministries

We have a little bit of an indie spirit at Riv.

We think this is a great thing. We value the Biblical principle that every follower of Jesus is a minister in one way or another. To this end, we encourage everyone who’s part of the Riv family to be actively involved in ministry. We also encourage people to be involved in the myriad of ministry happening outside of Riv. There are many great ministries in the greater Lansing area, and we’re excited to see people using their gifts and serving with them.

Below are links* to websites or Facebook groups or pages for some of the great indie ministries associated with Riverview Church. Check them out to learn how to get involved!

» New Exhibit in The Corridor Gallery

Posted on Tuesday, Jan 15, 2013

Be sure to check out the new photography exhibit in The Corridor Gallery next time you’re at the Holt Venue. This collection of images, called “Kanaka,” features Papuan villagers and decorative dress in tribes that can now read, write, and enjoy access to the Word of God in their mother tongue.

Photographer Christopher Jones is a California native, who moved to Jackson, MI in the fall of 2003. He studied the Bible there with New Tribes Mission, where he realized how lucky he was to actually have scripture translated into a language he could understand. In 2004, he made the decision to move to Papua New Guinea (PNG) and document an untouched language, teach literacy, and translate scripture there. He now works among the Pei tribe in PNG with his wife and four other teammates, and refuses to let his passion for tech and media be stifled by remote jungle living.
