The Element FAQs
What is The Element?
The Element is the Riv ministry for ninth through twelveth grade students. It's a place where students can come and learn about being a Christ-follower in an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. At The Element, students will have fun playing crazy games, be challenged with an engaging teaching, and be encouraged to share their lives with their peers and leaders in Life Groups.
When does The Element meet?
Meetings take place on Sundays from 4:00ish - 6:00ish in the afternoon in the Chapel at Riv's Holt Venue. The Element also has Blend events, which are monthly events that take place at various times throughout the month.
What happens at a weekly meeting of The Element?
A weekly meeting consists of a few things. First, students and leaders have a time of socializing and fun games. After that, students hear an engaging teaching rooted in Scripture that is applicable to the challenges they face in today’s culture. After the teaching, students break out into Life Groups led by adult volunteers. They have a chance to share how they feel about what they heard and ask questions about how it affects their lives. In Life Groups, students can be honest and real without having to worry about being judged.
What is an Element Blend?
An Element Blend is an event that happens once a month outside the weekly Sunday meetings. These events provide a fun, high energy environment in which students can let loose and have a great time with their friends and leaders. Some examples of Element Blend events are pool parties, lock-ins, retreats, trips, kickball games, etc. Blends are fun and crazy times when students can build relationships with one another and their leaders.
How do I get involved?
Ninth through twelveth grade students are welcome to attend a meeting or Blend whenever they would like. Element Blends are great for students who want to meet other students and leaders and just check things out. Sunday meetings are great for students who want to be part of the community, hear a challenging teaching, and take part in a Life Group.

The Element Blend for August - Lawn Game/Bonfire Night!

The Element Blend for August is going to be a Lawn Game/Bonfire night! We will spend the evening playing different lawn games (Cornhole, ladder golf, washers, etc.) and we’ll end the night with a bonfire.
