RivKids

RivKids:  The Children's Ministry of Riverview Church

RivKids is our ministry for children from infancy to sixth grade. We currently offer kids' church during all services at the Holt Venue. Service times are 7:00ish pm on Saturday nights, and 9:30ish am and 11:30ish am on Sunday mornings.

During this weekly event we socialize and worship through music and teaching that is relevant to kids' lives. We run a program for three-year-olds through sixth graders. We sing, dance, play, have dramas, show videos . . . anything we can do to help kids grow closer to Christ.

Check out RivKids on Facebook here.

For more info about RivKids, email Jen.Anibal@RivChurch.com.

RivBuddies:  Our Ministry for Kids with Special Needs

RivBuddies offers one-one-on "buddies" for special needs children who are Pre-K age through sixth grade. We provide additional support as needed for them during the 9:30ish and 11:30ish Sunday services at Riv's Holt Venue.

If you are the parent or guardian of a special needs child and are interested in registering him or her for our RivBuddies program, please complete the RivBuddies Child Intake Form below. Our RivBuddies Coordinator will then contact you. Pre-registration is required prior to bringing your child to a service so that we can best meet his or her needs.

RivKids Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) – April Focus

Posted on Friday, Apr 5, 2013

For the month of April our K-6th graders focus on the quality of friendship. We live in a culture struggling to define true friendship. What are the qualities of a true friend? We can know what true friendship is all about from the example and teaching we find in the Bible. God went to the ends of the earth to make friendship with Him possible. He sacrificed His only Son, Jesus, to bridge the gap in our relationship. In this week’s Bible story, we hear about how Paul experienced friendship. Read about it in Acts 9:1-18.

Monthly Verse: A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes. Proverbs 17:17, NIrV

RivKids Early Childhood (2-5 years old) – April Focus

Posted on Friday, Apr 5, 2013

Jesus is alive. Wow! That news really shook up the world. It changed everything. In fact, you could call it “The Great Shakeup.” We’re starting April with sharing the Great Commission with our 2-5 year olds. We want them to get excited about telling others about Jesus and how much He loves them.

Bottom Line: Jesus wants me to tell others about Him.

Memory Verse: "Go and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19, NIV

RivKids Early Childhood (2-5 years old) – February Focus

Posted on Thursday, Jan 31, 2013

“How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,” Ephesians 3:18. That’s what we’re investigating this month with our 2-5 year olds. We will tell the stories that Jesus told when He was trying to communicate how much God loves us – the story of the lost sheep, the Prodigal Son, the Good Samaritan and wrapping up February with the story of Zacchaeus.

Bottom Line: Jesus loves me.

RivKids Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) – February Focus

Posted on Wednesday, Jan 30, 2013

In February, we’re encouraging our K-6th grade kids to get messy, because relational peace is worth the risk. When our relationships are broken, how can we build a bridge to others? We’ll take a look at how some people in the Bible chose peace. This weekend we focus on Isaac who dug some wells on his father’s land and ticked off the neighbors. (Genesis 26: 16-31) Oh boy, a neighborhood quarrel…this should be good!

Monthly Verse: So let us do all we can to live in peace. And let us work hard to build each other up. Romans 14:19

RivKids Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) –January Focus

Posted on Thursday, Jan 3, 2013

Jesus says, “In this world you will have trouble.” We will have trouble that we won’t see coming. And we will have trouble we can’t understand. This month our K-6th graders will focus on becoming more like Jesus by learning about Determination: Resolving to finish the work God gives us to do. Even when it’s hard. It may have taken Noah 50, 60, or even 70 years, but he was determined to finish that boat. Sounds like a good story for this weekend…

Verse: Let us keep on running the race marked out for us. Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the author of faith. He also makes it perfect. Hebrews 12:1-2

RivKids Early Childhood (2-5 years old) – January Focus

Posted on Thursday, Jan 3, 2013

It's January 2013! This month our two year olds through five year olds will learn about many of the miracles that Jesus performed while learning that they can talk to Jesus anytime and anywhere.

Bottom Line: I can talk to Jesus.

Memory Verse: "Continue praying, keeping alert, and always thanking God." Colossians 4:2, NCV

RivKids Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th Grade) – December Focus

Posted on Thursday, Dec 6, 2012

If you want to understand who God is, if you want to learn more about His character, there may be no better place to start than the Christmas story and that's exactly what our Kindergartners through 6th graders will learn this month. The Creator of the entire universe was attentive to His creation. He saw and understood our ultimate consequences of sin and did something about it. He humbled Himself to be born as a tiny baby in a remote town in the dwelling place of animals. He lived as one of us so that, eventually, He could die for us and rise again, giving us the chance to live eternally with God in heaven.

Verse: "God loved the word so much that he gave His one and only son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life." John 3:16

RivKids Early Childhood (2-5 years old) – December Focus

Posted on Thursday, Dec 6, 2012

It's time to celebrate Christmas with our little ones! This year we are having a "Christmas Countdown" as we teach them that Jesus is God's Son. We will work our way through the Christmas story and conclude the month with a visit from the wise men. They arrived way after Jesus was born and celebrated Him even when it wasn't His birthday. We can celebrate Jesus any day too because He is God's Son!

Bottom Line: Jesus is God's Son

Memory Verse: "God loved the world so much that He gave His only son." John 3:16, GNT

Honor

Posted on Monday, Feb 6, 2012

This month our 1st through 4th graders will be learning about Honor. When Jesus was on earth, He taught us to honor everyone - even those who are overlooked and unpopular. We're not only looking for ways to show others how valuable they really are, but also for opportunities to share who God is, what He means to you and how He's shown up in your life.

"Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves." Romans 12:10

Hwy 56: The Empty Tomb

Posted on Friday, Apr 22, 2011

Hwy 56 Parent-Child Conversation: The Empty Tomb. The story continues. The tomb wasn't the end. Things that we perceive as hopeless may not be over. God may still be working in an area of our lives where we have given up. What would you have done if you were one of the disciples that had followed Jesus for the past three years and then saw him die?

Posted on Friday, Apr 15, 2011

Riverview isn't doing an egg hunt this year, but Delhi Township is having one on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 pm at Valhalla Park. Or your child(ren) could participate in the kids' fun run at the RivMX 5K on the same day at 10:00 am. Go to Mexico.RivChurch.com for more details and to register.

Hwy 56 this weekend

Posted on Thursday, Apr 14, 2011

Hwy 56'ers will be studying the Last Supper this weekend: There are things in each of our lives that we count on year after year to happen a certain way. We simply go through the motions. But because of Jesus, following God is no longer about ritual; it's about relationship. The Last Supper was more than a ritual for Jesus. Read Exodus 12:21-27 and Mark 14:12-25.

Elementary Lesson For the Week

Posted on Wednesday, Apr 13, 2011

Elementary Bottom Line this week: Jesus put you first when He died on the cross. Parents, if you want to read the scripture ahead of time with your child(ren) for this weekend's lesson, here it is: Mark 14:53-65 and Mark 15: 1-39.

Humility

Posted on Friday, Apr 1, 2011

Our 1st through 4th graders will be focusing on the virtue of Humility for April. Putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve. With age and maturity, God enables us to start taking into account others' needs and no one is a better example of humility than Jesus. Each week we will challenge kids to think about how Jesus put others first and how they can learn to do the same.

Hwy 56: Shift

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 30, 2011

Over 2,000 years ago, people were looking for a change (sound familiar?). They wanted their lives to look different. They wanted freedom, they wanted a shift. In the last days leading up to and following Jesus' death, there was a significant shift that happened. A shift that forever changed the way you and I connect to God. Life is no longer about who we think Jesus is; it's about who he actually is. The tomb is no longer about death; it's about life. Get ready Hwy 56'ers for the Easter season! It's time to Shift!

Hwy 56 Voices

Posted on Thursday, Mar 24, 2011

Ah, the voice of temptation! We all know it, and many of us have followed it into some major disappointments, disasters and regrets. Yet, the voice remains because it is so annoyingly effective. Parents of Hwy 56ers, read Luke 15:11-32 with your child. The end shows us how God treats those who have fallen into temptation versus how the Enemy would like us to treat them.

Highway 56 Parent Cue

Voices

Posted on Thursday, Mar 10, 2011

Hwy 56 "Voices" series begins this weekend!

There are voices in your head and the things the voices say can be different for all of us. Sometimes distinguishing the difference between the voices of Satan and the Holy Spirit can be tricky. The Enemy is that crafty. He is intentional. He is cunning. He will do anything he can to manipulate the voices we hear and quiet the voice of God. Our hope is that by the end of this Voices series, our fifth and sixth graders will have a better idea of the voice they can have confidence in, that the voice of the Holy Spirit in their lives will not just be heard, but followed and trusted whenever they hear it.

Courage

Posted on Wednesday, Mar 9, 2011

Are you brave enough to do what you should do even when you're afraid? This month our 1st - 4th graders will be learning about Courage and discovering that God created courage. God understands how scary life can be and He promises to be with us. Courage is not the absence of fear. It's doing what we need to do despite the fear.
