Riverview exists to proclaim the liberating power of the Gospel as we grow, serve, and go.
Riv has been around for over 35 years, but more than sixty percent of our people are younger than that. We have a strong college student presence from Michigan State, Lansing Community College, and Cooley Law School, as well as lots of post-college people and young families.
We are doctrinally conservative, but culturally fluid. Our music is loud and varied, with over 20 bands, our style ranges from blue grass to rock, and almost anything in between. We serve LOTS of free, freshly ground coffee during our services, and welcome you to take it into the auditorium. You can choose between Hazelnut, Vanilla, and the always popular House Blend.
We have a team of pastors instead of a senior pastor, and teaching styles can also vary depending on who’s on stage any given weekend.
Riv is pretty casual, so feel free to wear jeans and a T-shirt, leave the piercings in, and show off the tattoos. Or if you prefer dressing up, knock yourself out; we’ve got lots of people who do that too. We don’t really care what you wear, just as long as you wear something!
One Church, Multiple Locations
Riverview is one church with multiple locations, or venues. Our Holt Venue is located in Holt, Michigan, just west of Interstate 127, at 3585 Willoughby Road. Our MSU Venue meets right in the heart of East Lansing in Club Rush at 131 Albert Ave, our REO Town Venue meets in the center of REO Town, just south of 496, at 1115 S. Washington Avenue, and our Westside Venue meets on the corner of St. Joe Hwy. and Canal Road, just west of 496 at 7533 W St Joseph Hwy.
So what are the differences between our multiple venues? The simple answer is that they are just different locations. No matter which venue you decide to call home, you’ll still get fresh coffee, have solid community, and hear from the Gospel each week.
Check Out A Service
If you are attending for the first time, make sure you introduce yourself at the Info Center in the lobby at any venue. We’d love to meet you, hear your story, and answer any questions you have. And don’t forget to fill out the tear-off form at the bottom of the weekly handout. If you indicate that you’re new and give us your contact info we’d love to give you a proper welcome!
Info for Parents
Riv’s Holt, REO Town, and Westside Venues have a great children’s program called RivKids for infants through sixth graders that is dedicated to helping your child grow closer to God.
You can register your children by visiting our RivKids registration desk in the lobby, near door 3. Parents of infants and toddlers will be provided with a pager in case our RivKids staff needs to reach you during the service. Parents of older children may also request a pager, or we will put your last name on the screen in the auditorium if your child needs you during the service. You’ll need to give us your pager or receipt in order to pick-up your child after the service. We want to keep all children safe and secure. Our team of dedicated volunteers are required to have background checks and go through training, and they all love kids and are committed to making sure they have a great experience at RivKids.
We also have a program that provides one-on-one support from trained volunteers to children with special needs called RivBuddies.
Feel free to contact our office by calling 517-694-3400 or emailing Info@nullRivChurch.com. We are happy to help in any way we can. Our office hours are from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
