I'm New

Welcome to Riverview Church

Our Mission is to Make Sacrificial Followers of Jesus.

Wondering What to Expect?

We hope you will find Riverview Church (or “Riv” as we like to call it) a welcoming environment in which to check out the Christian faith. We seek to be a church where anyone and everyone feels comfortable. If you are searching spiritually, we invite you to come hang out and learn about Jesus.

Riv has been around for over thirty years, but more than sixty percent of our people are younger than that. There are nearly 3,000 folks attending on an average weekend (most of them at our Holt Venue; our MSU Venue has around 200 people on an average weekend). We have a strong college student presence from Michigan State, Lansing Community College, and Cooley Law School, as well as lots of post-college people and young families.

We are doctrinally conservative, but culturally fluid. Our music is loud and varied, and between our nine bands, ranges in style from blue grass to rock, and almost anything in between. We serve LOTS of free, freshly ground gourmet coffee during our services, and welcome you to take it into the auditorium. You can choose between Hazelnut, Vanilla, and the always popular House Blend.

We have a team of pastors (there are currently six) instead of a senior pastor, and teaching styles can also vary depending on who's on stage any given weekend.

Riv is pretty casual, so feel free to wear jeans and a T-shirt, leave the piercings in, and show off the tattoos. Or if you prefer dressing up, knock yourself out; we've got lots of people who do that too. We don't really care what you wear, just as long as you wear something!

One Church, Two Locations

Riverview is one church with two locations, or venues. Our Holt Venue is located in Holt, Michigan, just west of Interstate 127, at 3585 Willoughby Road. Our MSU Venue meets in East Lansing on the campus of Michigan State University, usually in the Erickson KIVA.

So what's the difference between the two venues? The simple answer is that they are just two different locations. Also, the Holt Venue offers kids' church during every weekend service, while the MSU Venue does not. The MSU Venue, which is only in session during MSU's Fall and Spring semesters, also features video teachings about half the time and live teachings the other half, and you'll see a lot more college students there for obvious reasons.

Check Out A Service

Riv's services times and directions to our two venues are always conveniently located at the top of your screen. Check back any time for the most up-to-date service information.

If you are attending for the first time, make sure you introduce yourself at RivWarehouse in the lobby at the Holt Venue or to one of our staff at the MSU Venue. We'd love to meet you, hear your story, and answer any questions you have. And don't forget to fill out the tear-off form at the bottom of the Featured at Riv newsletter you'll be handed. If you indicate that you're new and give us your contact info we'd love to give you a proper welcome!

Info for Parents About the Holt Venue

The Holt Venue has a great kids' church program called RivKids for infants through sixth graders that's dedicated to helping your child grow closer to God. If you have an infant, he or she will be in one of our  classrooms close to the auditorium. You’ll want to use entrance one or two. Then there are classrooms for children who are walking through kids in sixth grade in our RivKids wing. You’ll want to use entrance three.

You can register your children at any computer using our automated system. Parents of infants and toddlers will be provided with a pager in case our RivKids staff needs to reach you during the service. Parents of older children may also request a pager, or we will put your last name on the screen in the auditorium if your child needs you during the service. You’ll need to give us your pager or receipt in order to pick-up your child after the service. We want to keep all children safe and secure. Our team of dedicated volunteers are required to have background checks and go through training, and they all love kids and are committed to making sure they have a great experience at RivKids.

We also have a program that provides one-on-one support from trained volunteers to special needs children called RivBuddies.
