Meals Team
Our focus is to provide members of our church and ministries within our church with any assistance they may need when it comes to food. We do not have meetings, rather we are an email list of people who receive updates on various meal requests and respond when the need fits our individual availability.
If you have questions about the Meals Team or any of our projects, or are interested in joining the email list, please email Meals@RivChurch.com.
Or you can join our Facebook Group, Riverview Church-MealsTeam.
Current Meals Team Projects
Staff Food Pantry
Our team currently stocks one cabinet at Riverview with soup, easy mac, granola bars, oatmeal, chips, and other munchies for Riverview staffers. The cabinet and refrigerator are located in the original building across from the office. Items placed in the refrigerator and freezer are labeled with "Meals Team, Help Yourself" stickers so that they are not confused with actual lunches staffers may bring in.
Sunday Volunteer Snacks
Each week, four to five members of our team sign-up to bring in snacks for the speaker, band, Welcome Team, and other volunteers who spend a large amount of time at both the Holt and MSU Venues on Sundays. The food is placed in the kitchen in the original building, across from the office, and labeled with a "Meals Team, Sunday Snack" sticker. Sunday volunteers are encouraged to help themselves whenever they have a break. It is a great way to refuel and meet others who are serving in different ministries throughout the church.
Meals Assistance
If someone has experienced a death in the family, the birth of a child, or just needs a little help providing meals for their family, they may request short-term meal assistance. Our goal when serving someone in this capacity is to provide them with three to four meals a week for a two-week period. Meals are delivered, or sometimes dropped off in the kitchen at Riverview. If you are leaving a meal at Riv, please be sure to label the items with the first name and last initial of the recipient.
Groceries Assistance
If someone is experiencing financial difficulty, they may request short term assistance with groceries. For a one month period, our team will provide them with two small gift certificates to a local grocery store, two bags of groceries (enough for a few meals for a family of four), and information on local food service programs, which can assist them on a long-term basis.
Ministry Food Assistance
Our team takes request from various Riv Ministries for assistance with food needs. We are 100% volunteer-based, so there is no guarantee that we can meet these requests, but we do our best. We have provided side dishes for a ministry get together and have collected items for a children’s program. Our goal is to relieve some of the stress and financial burden of providing and coordinating food for those who are already serving in our church.
