What do you do here at Riv?

Side by Side Care Coordinator.

What does it look like to be a pastor at Riv?

My primary role is caring for and supporting our leadership team and caregivers as they meet with those in our Riv community who are going through difficult times. We aim to equip our team to care well by listening empathetically and looking to Christ as the source of our healing.

What are some dreams you have within your role?

I’m so encouraged by the emphasis Riv places on care and am excited to broaden our reach to where care is continuing to happen in all ministry contexts, both in the weekend services and Monday-Saturday life.

How do you spend your free time?

You’ll probably find me swimming, biking, or running in much of my spare time, mixed with a healthy dose of funny cat videos and walks with my wife, Sarah.

Top three shows?

The West Wing is my top series, but lately, wrapped up Schitt’s Creek and cycling back through Seinfeld.

Listening to any good podcasts?

Knowing Faith, Fierce Marriage, and then a bunch of nerdy triathlon shows.

What’s your favorite spot in Lansing?

People’s Kitchen has really tasty and eclectic food and a casual (yet fancy) atmosphere.

All limitations aside, what job would you love to have in an alternate reality?

Adventure hiking/mountaineering guide.
