Shannon Smith serves as Riverview’s Operations Administrative Assistant, providing administrative support to the Director of Operations and the Administrative Director and helping keep the day-to-day details of ministry running smoothly.

Shannon’s faith story began in church, where she attended with her parents, but one of the most significant moments in her journey came through her grandfather. Before he passed away from cancer, he gathered his grandchildren around his bedside and shared his prayer that each of them would surrender their lives to Jesus. Shannon made that decision that very night. Later, during college, she gained a deeper understanding of what it truly means to follow Jesus as a disciple.

When she’s not at Riv, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and twin boys. She loves cooking and baking—especially anything involving sourdough—as well as camping, hiking, walking, and gardening. One of her favorite places in the Lansing area is Michigan State University’s campus during the summer.

A verse that has guided Shannon through many seasons is Proverbs 3:5–6. She describes it as an anchor during times of trial, reminding her to trust Jesus fully, live with open hands in surrender, and rest in His perfect timing.

Shannon joined Riverview three months ago after being invited by a friend, and she is excited to be part of helping people connect with Jesus and each other.
