Carolyn Huizenga serves on the RivKids team as the volunteer coordinator for the REO Town Venue and provides support for anything and everything RivKids-related. She first connected with Riv about eight years ago through friends, and has been all in ever since.

Carolyn learned about Jesus from her parents, and 1 Peter 5:7 has become a verse she returns to often: “Cast all your cares upon the Lord for He cares for you.” Life can feel heavy, but this verse reminds her to bring her worries to God in prayer rather than carrying them alone.

When she’s not coordinating volunteers or helping run Sunday mornings, Carolyn loves taking trips with her family, digging in her garden, hanging out with her dog, and spending quality time with her best friend. Horrocks is her go-to spot in Lansing, and she’s always happy to recommend Memory Making Mom by Jessica Smartt, Clutterbug with Cassandra Aarssen, and pretty much anything by comedian Leanne Morgan.

She’s completely obsessed with her husband, their two kids, and their Cavalier King Charles spaniel—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
