As the Volunteer Coordinator for RivKids at the Holt Venue, Kelly Mollsen spends her weekends equipping and encouraging an amazing team of volunteers who create a safe, fun, and gospel-centered environment for kids. Her passion for ministry is rooted in her own story—she began following Jesus at age 15 after friends invited her to Riv’s high school group, then called “Bob.” There, she heard the gospel in a way that captivated her heart, but it was the friendship and example of her leader, Devon Detmers, that left a lasting impact and pointed her to a life of faith in Christ.

Kelly’s journey with Riv began in 2005, continued through her time at Michigan State University, and picked up again after returning to the Lansing area with her family. Today, alongside her role at Riv, she also serves as the Area Director for Young Life in Greater Lansing, helping introduce adolescents to Jesus and encouraging them to grow in their faith.

When she’s not at church or working with students, Kelly is likely chasing around her two young kids, listening to Coaching for Leaders or the BibleProject, or sneaking in an episode of Bluey—which she claims is the greatest show of all time. Her favorite spot in Lansing is the MSU campus, and her favorite verse is Hebrews 12:1-3, a passage she memorized as a Young Life leader in college that continues to bring her daily comfort and purpose.
