Wendy Smith serves as Riverview’s Women’s and Marriage Ministry Director, where she oversees Bible studies, connection events, mentoring, and conferences for women, as well as pre-marriage mentoring, marriage enrichment, and couple-to-couple ministry. She’s passionate about creating spaces where people feel known, supported, and equipped to grow in their faith and relationships.

Wendy first met Jesus at five years old through Awana and has been growing in her identity in Christ ever since—something she treasures deeply in passages like Ephesians 1. She and her husband, Joel, moved to Lansing in 2004 without knowing a soul. Riv was the second church they visited, and it quickly became home.

Outside of ministry, Wendy loves spending time with family and friends, reading great stories (like East of Eden, Anna Karenina, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), and making things look pretty by organizing them. She has a soft spot for porches, coffee (or a Mt Dew Code Red), and petting all the animals. Just don’t challenge her to outsmart an inanimate object—she will win.
