God’s Wrath Toward Us
[quote]The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.

The Lord is wrathful. On it’s face, that’s not the most encouraging attribute of God. Yet in the wholeness of God’s character He is also slow to anger and abounding in mercy. While His wrath must be poured out on the guilty, He made a way for us, His creation, to escape our just punishment through the selflessness of Jesus.
Our guilt is absorbed in full onto Jesus and we receive God’s grace.
