The Holiness of God
What does it mean for someone or something to be holy? The word “holy” literally means cut. It is when someone or something that is so different than the norm, it must be considered as other. When we view God, relative to humanity, we can claim that He is indeed holy. The reason for this is simple: humans are sinful and God is not. Our sin taints our attitudes, our actions, and our nature. On the other hand, since God does not have sin, His holiness envelopes His attitude, action, and nature. The Good News for us however, is because of Jesus Christ, we too can be holy in our eternal position. Though we may sin while here on earth, positionally, we are seated at the right hand of God and able to enjoy holy communion with Him forever.
