Not one of us can rest, be happy, be at home, be at peace with ourselves, until we ended hatred and division. – John Lewis

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

The flesh looks out for the self, while the Spirit looks out for others.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

    Galatians 5:22-25

For I know the plans I have for you”  — this is the LORD’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

    Jeremiah 29:11

“This type of peace means wholeness. It’s the idea of God bringing about restoration to the world. It’s his redemptive process that starts in the Old Testament and threads through Jesus into our future hope.” – Alex McGraw

Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

    Matthew 10:34

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

    Romans 12:17-18

In a growing secular age, the Church is called to actively meet hostility with peace.

But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh, he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two, resulting in peace. He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death. He came and proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

    Ephesians 2:13-18

So then, let us pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.

    Romans 6:19

Jesus identifies with our struggles in the crucifixion…and we have a future hope of shalom in the new heaven and new life. But until then: we are to be microcosms of the presence of God giving tastes of the heaven to come as He works out this redemptive plan. – Alex McGraw

The story of Babel is the best metaphor I have found for what happened to America in the 2010s, and for the fractured country we now inhabit. Something went terribly wrong, very
suddenly. We are disoriented, unable to speak the same language or recognize the same truth. We are cut off from one another and from the past. – Jonathan Haidt

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Romans 5:1

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 4:4-7

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.

    John 14:27

So, then, remember that at one time you were Gentiles in the flesh — called “the uncircumcised” by those called “the circumcised,” which is done in the flesh by human hands. At that time you were without Christ, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world. So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

    Ephesians 2:11-20

If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

    Romans 12:18

gotquestions.org – The Spirit-filled Christian has a peace that is abundant, available in every situation, and unlike anything that the world has to offer. The alternative to being
filled with the Spirit and His peace is to be filled with alarm, filled with doubt, filled with foreboding, or filled with dread. How much better to let the Spirit have control and perform His work of growing fruit to the glory of God!

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

    Romans 15:13
