Jesus And The
Jesus is quite literally the cornerstone of our faith. We call ourselves Christians, followers of Christ, and Believers, all of which point back to the person and work of Jesus. We have recorded in Scripture God the Father saying “look, I have laid a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will be unshakable” (Isaiah 28:16).
It is on Jesus that we anchor our faith and build our lives.
But why do we so often look past Jesus’ daily interactions with the everyday person He engaged with in His earthly life?
Beyond the teachings and sacrificial work of Jesus, we have Him as a perfect example for how to share in life with those around us; those we love, those we dislike, those with whom we have nothing in common, and those who are so often burned by society or even by ourselves.
Jesus perfectly loves the sinners and saints.
Jesus cares for the religious and the irreverent.
Jesus longs for the old and the young: the orphan and the widow.
Jesus reaches out to the harlot and the zealot.
Jesus lifts up the paralytic and the displaced.
As we look to Jesus, may we represent Him as we engage with and love these same people in our lives.
