Suffering for the Gospel

There are lots of good things in our lives that, when given too much attention, become really bad gods. Is there something in your life other than God that pulls a majority of your time, attention, energy, and money? There’s a chance that good thing has become a knockoff god, knocking God off the throne of your life.

When we talk about idols, it’s tricky in that they’re often not evil things; most of the time we place them on the throne of our lives because they are good. When we allow the created, rather than the Creator, to take up all of our time, attention, energy, and money, there isn’t room for God.

Yet God is God and is worthy of our focus.
