As we celebrate what God’s done through Riv from 1977 to now, our mission has been and will continue to be proclaiming the liberating power of the Gospel.

Various Scriptures

To consider with your Life Group:

  • Take a few minutes to review the Scripture from Acts 9:1-22, 2 Timothy 1:12-16, and 2 Timothy 2:1-3. What verses or ideas stand out to you from these passages? What questions do you have? What would you like to remember and apply to your life?
  • What have you left behind in order to follow Jesus? Has there been any suffering involved? What adventures have you experienced because of the Gospel that you would not have experienced otherwise?
  • God uses His Word to change people, to change the culture, and to change the world. What are some examples where you’ve seen this happen?
  • Have you ever been “sincerely wrong” about something? What are some common examples of people being “sincerely wrong” about Jesus?
  • Who is the person (maybe it’s you) in your life who seems to be the farthest from Jesus? Take some time to pray for that person, that perhaps God might even use them to advance the Gospel some day in much the same way He did with Paul.

Various Scriptures

To consider with your Life Group:

  • Take some time to review the Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12-16, 5:1-2, Matthew 12:34-37, and Matthew 20:28. What verses or ideas stand out to you from these passages? What questions do you have? What would you like to remember and apply to your life?
  • As an older, how are you tempted to look down on youngers? As a younger, how are you tempted to dishonor olders? How does the Gospel help us in both of these areas?
  • How can we be intentional about sharing the Gospel with those who are different from us?
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 tells us to “set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” In which of these ways do you need God’s help most to set an example?
  • Take some time to pray for the youngers and olders in your own life that you are hoping trust in Jesus. Pray for them by name during your life group and commit to praying for them until your next life group gathering.

Matthew 28:16-20

To consider with your Life Group:

  • Take some time to review the Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20. What stands out to you from this passage? What would you like to remember and apply to your life from this text?
  • Take some time to remember and reflect on what you have heard in this series. When did you begin attending Riv? How has Riv been instrumental in shaping your faith?
  • Matthew 28:18 says that “all authority in heaven and on earth” has been given to Jesus. How is this truth especially encouraging to you with where you are currently in your life?
  • Where in your life can you “take a step” to live on mission?
  • Take some time to pray and think about how you and your life group can be missional as you grow together in your faith.
