1&2.June.2019
John 4; Romans 12; John 12

Conversation with your Life Group:

  • Take a few minutes to read aloud the Scripture from John 4:1-26, Romans 12:1-3, and Romans 11:33-36. What verses or ideas stand out to you from these passages? What questions do you have? What “next step” are you considering as a result of your interaction with God’s Word?
  • Define worship.
  • We live in a worshipful culture. What are some common objects of that worship?
  • If someone who didn’t know you watched how you make decisions, including how you spend your money and your time, what conclusion would they reach about what (or who) you truly worship?
  • Read Romans 11:33. What experiences have you had in your life that are “unsearchable”? What would enable you to worship God when you do not understand what He His doing?
  • Are you willing to change your mind? Read Romans 12:1-2. If Biblical worship is our “full life response to who God is and what He has done,” how does your mind need to be “renewed” in order for you to live more sacrificially?

Romans 1:25; Luke 4:1-13, Psalm 2:5-7; Hebrews 4:15-16

Conversation with your Life Group:

  • Take a few minutes to read aloud the Scripture from Romans 1:25; Luke 4:1-13; Psalm 2:5-7; Hebrews 4:15-16. What verses or ideas stand out to you from these passages? What questions do you have? What “next step” are you considering as a result of your interaction with God’s Word?
  • False worship is a full-life commitment to created things over the Creator. What are some things that compete with God for our worship?
  • In the wilderness, Jesus was tempted but never sinned (Luke 4:1-13). Where in your life do you face temptation to sin? Looking at Jesus in this passage, how should we respond in our times of temptation?
  • Created things often want our full-life commitment. How do we keep good things that God has given us from becoming ultimate things that we worship?
  • Read Hebrews 4:15-16 and do a short, inductive study of the passage (Observe, Interpret, Apply). What do these verses say? What do these verses mean? How are you going to apply these verses in your life right now?
  • Take time to share specific ways you are tempted to worship created things over our Creator God. After sharing, take time to pray for one another and to thank God for being worthy of our worship.
