No Condemnation

Tony Pyle

Romans 6-7

Everyone has moments of guilt in their lives due to a wrongdoing they’ve done. Scripture calls these wrongdoings, “sin” or “trespasses”. What ways are we able to overcome these sins and get rid of the guilt that comes along with it? Pastor Tony Pyle shares how our position in Christ changes our relationship with sin and its guilt bearing effects. By believing in the Gospel, we are free from sin itself and the guilt that it brings because we know we no longer stand condemned by God.

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience – among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”

Ephesians 2:1-3

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:4-6

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may abound?”

Romans 6:1

By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:2-4

For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what i do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Romans 7:15-24

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, I myself serve the Law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 7:25-8:1

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

Romans 3:23-25
