The Satisfying Light

Justin Detmers

Matthew 5:14-16

Where are you looking to find satisfaction during this Christmas seasons? For some, it may be in gifts or time spent with friends and family. For others, the year may have been difficult and finding satisfaction in life is no where in sight. Justin Detmers explains how the birth of Jesus Christ was a monumental moment in history because the light of the world was finally born. It is through Jesus, The True Light, where people can find true everlasting satisfaction in – no matter where they may be coming from.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.

Isaiah 9:2

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 42:1-5, 11 NIV

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16
