  • Take a few minutes to read aloud the Scripture from Matthew 6:16-34. What verses or ideas stand out to you from this passage? What questions do you have? What “next step” are you considering as a result of your interaction with God’s Word?
  • Jesus starts off strong in Matthew 6:19 when talking about what will happen to our valuables, here on earth. What are some items that you possess to be valuable? After taking an honest assessment of them, are there any that have an unhealthy hold on your life? If so, share how it has a hold on your life.

  • Re-read Matthew 6:25-34. Jesus talks about anxiety brought on specifically by money and the worry that we might not be able to take care of ourselves. Do you ever worry about what tomorrow will bring? What are some ways that you can begin to remove this worry from your heart? How does the Gospel inform this method?
  • Compared to money, there are many other great things that college students can strive for after graduating college. Discuss with your small group some items/things in life that can be more valuable than chasing money after graduating college.

1 Corinthians 12-13

Conversation with your Life Group:

  • Take a few minutes to read aloud the Scripture from 1 Corinthians 12-13. What verses or ideas stand out to you from this passage? What questions do you have? What “next step” are you considering as a result of your interaction with God’s Word?
  • Take some time with your Life Group to have each individual make a list of 3 different gifts/talents that they have. Go around your group and share how you could possibly use that within Riverview and/or for the benefit of the greater Church body.
  • Sometimes it’s hard to think of gifts and talents that we can use within the church. Why do you think that is? What obstacles get in the way of using our gifts and skills to help build up the church?
  • The Apostle Paul talks a lot about unity within the Corinthian church. One of the greatest things that lead us away from that is thinking of ourselves. Do you wrestle with bringing yourself glory or fame with the gifts you have? Compare the differences that could come from using your gifts for your own agenda vs. the benefit of the entire church.
  • We can use our gifts to reach those outside of the church. What are some ways that you can leverage your gifts to proclaim the Gospel?
