Onward We Stumble
This past spring we rolled out a new mission statement that says “at riv we invite everyone to know and enjoy Jesus as we stumble together to love like Him.” That piece in the middle “as we stumble together” has stood out to a lot of people for a bunch of different reasons.
That phrase can encourage us in two ways; it reminds us that we al are going to stumble, that’s inevitable, but we are going to stumble together. It’s an us thing, a church family thing.
See, the life of a Christ follower is all about pursuing Jesus and the way of life that He set out for us. The beauty of the Gospel is that we are going to fail at that, that’s a fact. But Jesus gives us grace and we have one another to hold each other up.
That’s what this series is all about: we are going to look at specific ways we stumble, how we move onward, and explore creative ways to invite people to join in with us. Each week we’ll talk about different topics ranging from our identity, to nationalism, abuse and the appropriate use of power, influence, and walking by faith. We’re gonna cover a lot!
