Passover = “Pesach” = “pass over.” = “have mercy on”/“protect.”
“Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month they must each select an animal of the flock according to their fathers’ families, one animal per family.
You must have an unblemished animal, a year-old male; you may take it from either the sheep or the goats. You are to keep it until the 14th day of this month; then the whole assembly of the community of Israel will slaughter the animals at twilight. They must take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses where they eat them.
When the Lord passes through to strike Egypt and sees the blood on the lintel and the two doorposts, He will pass over the door and not let the destroyer enter your houses to strike you. “Keep this command permanently as a statute for you and your descendants. When you enter the land that the Lord will give you as He promised, you are to observe this ceremony. When your children ask you ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ you are to reply, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, for He passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians, and He spared our homes.’”
Exodus 12:3, 5-6, 23-27
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This came from the Lord; it is wondrous in our sight. This is the day the Lord has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it. (Hosanna!) Lord, save us! Lord, please grant us success! He who comes in the name of the Lord is blessed. (Hallelujah!) From the house of the Lord we bless you.

When they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of his disciples 2and told them, “Go into the village ahead of you.
Mark 11:1-2a
As soon as you enter (the village), you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here right away.’” So they went and found a colt outside in the. street, tied by a door. They untied it, and some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” They answered them just as Jesus had said; so they let them go.
Mark 11:2b-6
They brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. Many people spread their clothes on the road, and others spread leafy branches cut from the fields.
Mark 11:7-8
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!

He went into Jerusalem and into the temple. After looking around at everything, since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

Then I saw one like a slaughtered lamb standing in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth. He went and took the scroll out of the right hand of the one seated on the throne.
When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song:
You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slaughtered,
and you purchased people
for God by your blood
from every tribe and language

You made them a kingdom
and priests to our God,
and they will reign on the earth.
