Meekly Receiving The Transformational Word

Justin Detmers

Psalms 19:7-11

More often than not, when we are confident in something, we tend to not seek out assistance. We are confident in our own ability to complete a task, accomplish an objective, and handle the situation ourselves. However, is this the case when turning to the Bible and allowing it to speak into our lives? Justin Detmers shares how when we approach the Bible with a meek heart and attitude, we can then allow it to be the guiding light in how to live our lives. Ultimately, through our meekness, we meet Jesus Christ, through His transformative Word.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the yes;
the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:7-11

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger…

james 1:19-20

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your soul.

James 1:21

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your soul.

James 1:21

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

James 1:21-24

… if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

James 4:4-11

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

James 1:25
