Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24 CSB

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10 CSB

Skill: An ability acquired through learning

Talent: An inborn ability

Interest: Curiosity to learn about something

Passion: Something you’re drawn to

Hobby: A regular activity that you do for pleasure

Spiritual gift: A supernatural grace endowed by the Holy Spirit to Christians in order to build up the body of Christ

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith; if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.

Romans 12:1-10 CSB

Prophecy: To speak forth the message of God to His people

Service: To identify undone tasks in God’s work and use resources to get the job done

Teaching: Instructing others in the Bible in a logical way that leads to true understanding

Exhorting: Coming along side others with words of encouragement or comfort

Giving: Sharing material resources with liberty and cheerfulness without thought of return

Leading: Motivating others toward the accomplishment of spiritual goals

Mercy: Genuine sensitivity and sympathy toward those who are suffering

Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware. Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues. One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills. For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-12 CSB

Continuationism is the belief that all the spiritual gifts, including the sign gifts, are still in operation today.

Cessationism is the belief that the Spirit no longer gives believers miraculous spiritual gifts as a normative Christian experience.

Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other tongues? Do all interpret? But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way.

1 Corinthians 12:27, 29-31 CSB

Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There’s plenty of movement, but you never know if it’s going to be forward, backwards, or sideways.

H. Jackson Browne

The end of all things is near; therefore, be alert and sober-minded for prayer. Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
